If you have woken up this morning, feeling pretty rubbish about yourself or the way things are going in life, then I believe you have come across this post at the right time. For this week’s Pain Warrior Pep Talk, my message to you is that you’re worth more than you realise. Your value has not decreased because of your illness, so don’t devalue yourself Warrior.
"Your value has not decreased because of your illness, so don't devalue yourself Warrior. " – Tasha MarieDon't Devalue Yourself Warrior! #PainWarriorPepTalk Click To TweetYou Are Valuable
Life can be quite cyclical, especially when living with a chronic illness. One minute we are doing a great job at managing our physical, spiritual and mental health. Then before we know it – we’ve sunken into a place where we feel frustrated, stressed and quite low about ourselves. Especially when the pain is overwhelming and we’ve had enough of dealing with it. That kind of space is a prime opportunity for negative thoughts to slip in that can cause us to devalue ourselves. How we end up in that place can vary; it can be a sudden decline in some cases and a build up in others.
If that has been the case for you recently, I am here to encourage you that you are just as valuable as everyone else. You matter. Your existence and purpose is just as important. Your pain doesn’t get to rob you of your potential to do great things. I touch on this topic in 5 Valuable Life Lessons For Chronic Warriors (Inspired By ‘Clouds’)

" – Tasha MarieDon't Devalue Yourself Warrior! #PainWarriorPepTalk Click To TweetWhen you have those moments where you start to think negatively or criticise yourself – remind yourself of exactly how far you have come. You have literally survived every day that you have faced; no matter how great or terrible it was. You are a Warrior and you are made of strong stuff. If you have come this far, then you have what it takes to keep going farther.
Your Path Is Different
If you have ever had that thought or feeling like you are the “one who is left on the shelf” – I’m here to tell you that couldn’t be furthest from the truth. It seems like everyone is living their life and having these great experiences, but us chronic warriors are the ones who are just left behind. It can be easy to feel stagnant because we experience some limitations that others don’t. But we are a strong people and we will persevere no matter our limitations – they won’t hold us back!
"It seems like everyone is living their life and having these great experiences, but us chronic warriors are the ones who are just left behind." – Tasha MarieDon't Devalue Yourself Warrior! #PainWarriorPepTalk Click To TweetI have personally felt this way before and spoken with many other chronic illness warriors that have too. Whenever we feel “left on the shelf”, it’s important to remember that we are all on our own individual paths in life – and that’s okay. We usually tend to be the most critical of our own lives, especially when it has taken us on a path that we did not expect to be on. However, every person that walks this earth has to face their own unique struggles. There is a season for everything in life and we will get our time to fulfil or achieve whatever we set our minds upon. Life guarantees change – so we will see a change in our lives one way or another.
The illness that you live with doesn’t decrease your stock and doesn’t devalue you. Don’t allow anybody else to make you feel that way either – no stranger, employee, friend or family member! Pain warriors have so much to offer to the world, so stay strong in that belief. You have your own gifts and talents, so allow yourself to shine and be the blessing that you are to others.
"The illness that you live with doesn't decrease your stock and don't allow anybody else to make you feel that way either." – Tasha MarieDon't Devalue Yourself Warrior! #PainWarriorPepTalk Click To TweetWarriors, I hope this encourages you for the week. Do not devalue yourself, your achievements or your life! Instead, keep your head held high and do not forget that you truly are valuable. Do not be the biggest doubter of your own self!
Until next time Warriors,
Tasha Marie
